Flanders Field

20″x26″ 2009.    Original acrylic painting by me and cutout of World War I silhouette. Along with the famous poem by Col. John McCrae, I was inspired by a scene in the 2007 film “Atonement” in which the protagonists death is symbolized by him walking through a quiet poppy field. The painting is a scene of peace and beauty, when in the madness of war, both seem lost forever, until deaths release.
